Pineapple Express (The Ultimate Stoner Movie)
Imagine a movie where you got together with a group of your friends and made a movie. The result would probably turn out to be a lot like Pineapple Express. It’s an action/comedy stoner movie in which a friend and his drug dealer see something they shouldn’t have and they have to run away to the woods to hide.
All the different parts of the movie work excellently. The action scenes are incredibly funny and the dialogue is hilarious. This is one of the funniest movies I’ve seen since Zack and Miri Make a Porno. There are about some of the most hysterical fight scenes that I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. Seth Rogen and Danny McBride are their normal wacky selves (And who doesn’t love those guys?!), but James Franco’s worried and scared character was completely unexpected. I never expected him to act that well!
My personal favorite scene of the movie is when the Seth Rogen and James Franco are in the middle of the woods. They think that people can track them and so they start to freak out in this stoner movie. They destroy everything that someone could possibly find them with. They break an expensive cell phone and Seth really complains about it. They have a really awkward fight in the forest and it is absolutely hilarious.
I’m happy to know that Seth Rogen is a very dependable guy that you can always count on to give you a laugh. Pineapple Express doesn’t have too much in it for criticism. There’s a dangling little plot threat with Amber Heard that probably should have been developed even further, but that’s only a very minor detail that is off track of the actual plot of this stoner movie. I really can’t complain much about this marijuana film, there is just so much to like. I found myself enjoying almost every moment of it. Now, it may be because I had a little chemical inducement going on in my brain, but I believe this movie is enjoyable even when you are sober.
